We meet students in middle school because that’s when the trajectory toward college and leadership is shaped.
By starting early, we keep doors open and give students the tools, confidence and vision to pursue opportunities that might otherwise feel out of reach.
Beginning in middle school, LYTE helps students overcome the achievement gap.
Through advanced math and ELA classes after school and during the summer, tutoring, and test preparation, we catapult our scholars to success.
After engaging with LYTE, our middle school students are equipped to gain admission to some of Delaware’s most competitive high schools.

LYTE’s “Changing Academic Trajectory” Program
Advanced Academic Enrichment
Advanced academics are key to preparing students for success in high school. Through after-school and summer math and ELA classes with LYTE, students strengthen their skills and build the confidence needed to thrive in the next stage of their education.
Test Preparation & Placement Exams
Rigorous high school programs require placement exams as a barrier to admission. LYTE prepares students to excel on these exams.
High School Placement Support
The high school placement process can feel overwhelming, especially for low-income families. LYTE offers guidance on exploring a wide range of high schools, personalized support with applications, and access to school fairs and information sessions to help students find the right fit for them.
Financial Aid Guidance
Rigorous high schools often come with a price tag that is out of reach for low-income families. LYTE provides training for students and families on securing financial aid during high school.
*88% of LYTE scholars attend a public high school.
Career Exploration
Students that start exploring career opportunities early are more motivated academically. LYTE hosts introductory career workshops and field trips to spark interest in future career paths.
Thank you to the middle schools supporting our students!
