Finishing a college degree is a challenge.

Many obstacles—financial pressures, changes in funding or aid policies, academic difficulties, transfers, and life events—can derail a student’s path.

LYTE’s New Horizons program provides ongoing, structured support throughout college, with a focus on the critical first year, helping students overcome challenges, stay on track, and successfully earn their degree.

LYTE’s “New Horizons” Program

College Transition Support

23.3% of freshmen drop out of college.1 LYTE understands that the first year of college presents unique challenges. LYTE prepares students for college life and to utilize campus resources through orientation sessions on course registration, financial aid and campus billing, one-on-one success planning, and more.

Career & Professional Development

Practical experience combined with a college education leads to greater opportunities and career success. LYTE connects students with career opportunities in Delaware, helping to nurture our next generation of community leaders.

LYTE facilitates priority internship placements, professional certifications, pre-professional skill building, job search guidance, resume and cover letter support, interview preparation, and financial literacy training.

Achieving College Milestones

College can feel overwhelming, and without the right support, students may struggle to stay on track. LYTE scholars aren’t alone—through guidance on courses, housing, financial aid, career pathways, and choosing a major, they gain the tools and confidence to thrive.

Preparing for a Fulfilling Future

LYTE’s goal is for students to become healthy, stable, and contributing members of society. College graduates access our career fair, connecting with companies across Delaware, while current college students explore graduate school options through our graduate school fair, learning about different programs and opportunities.

Exploring Alternative Pathways

Sometimes a traditional four-year college isn’t the right fit for every student. LYTE supports scholars in exploring alternative postsecondary options, helping them identify programs, training, and experiences that match their skills, interests, and career goals.
