LYTE’s Career Pipeline launches scholars into high-demand careers in Delaware, helping them build professional skills, gain hands-on experience, and earn college-sustaining savings to overcome financial barriers.

Career Connections
LYTE hosts career panels, field trips, guest speakers, and networking events to connect students with professionals in Delaware.
Workplace Experience
LYTE co-develops and facilitates paid internships, shadowing opportunities, experiential learning, and hands-on workshops to build real-world career skills.
Skill Development
LYTE programming includes professional acumen training and workshops on financial literacy, workplace culture and practices, and completing and submitting tax forms.
Pathways to Employment
LYTE helps students develop a comprehensive career plan and timeline that includes course selection, certifications, and key internship placements.
Financial Readiness
LYTE promotes opening DE529 Education Savings Accounts, provides financial literacy courses, and helps students complete their taxes each year.
LYTE facilitates paid internships for low-income students. Our community in Delaware has provided a large network of internship partners.
LYTE co-develops paid internships with community partners. In some cases, internships are unpaid but LYTE can facilitate payment. Instead of a minimum-wage summer job, LYTE internships allow low-income students to gain relevant experience and college savings.
Some careers prefer or require certifications to progress. LYTE helps our students earn free certifications in their prospective fields. These certifications are an impressive accomplishment on our students’ resumes.
Georgetown Medical School Tour
LYTE scholars in our Health Sciences Pipeline explored the campus of Georgetown Medical School. Scholars got to experience a typical day in the life of a medical student, hearing from current medical students, professors, and admissions officers.
Drafting Resolutions at Legislative Hall
On May 13, scholars in our Government Administration and Law Pipelines visited Legislative Hall in Dover to celebrate the first-ever “LYTE Day!” Students met with state senators and representatives to draft the resolution declaring May 13th as “LYTE Day” in Delaware, a new tradition recognizing youth leadership and engagement. Afterwards, students got to hear the resolution for LYTE Day read aloud on the Senate floor.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Training
Scholars in our Health Sciences Pipeline received free Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certifications through LYTE. Students learned to recognize life-threatening situations, give chest compressions, deliver ventilations, use an AED, and perform CPR on adults and infants, giving LYTE scholars an advantage when applying to healthcare internships.
ChristianaCare Gene Editing Institute Workshop
Scholars in our Science & Engineering and Health Sciences Pipelines visited the ChristianaCare Gene Editing Institute Learning Lab. Students explored genetics in hands-on workshops and conducted an experiment to edit genes in non-infectious E. coli bacteria.
Delaware Museum of Nature and Science Tour
Scholars in our Science & Engineering Pipeline visited the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science. Students got to see behind-the-scenes of the museum and got to hear from experts about Delaware’s ecosystems, natural history, wildlife, and fossils.
IceCube Masterclass Workshop
Scholars in our Science & Engineering Pipeline took a trip to the University of Delaware for a masterclass on neutrinos, the IceCube observatory at the South Pole, and their role in high-energy astrophysics.
FLii Capstone Projects
Each summer, students in our Future Leaders Internship Initiative (FLii) program conclude their paid internships at Delaware government organizations with comprehensive capstone projects. Students present on timely community issues, exploring topics such as smart traffic safety audits, Gen Z voter engagement campaigns, and statewide broadband access and opportunity.
“First Day of Law School” at Georgetown
LYTE Scholars in our Law Pipeline took a field trip to Washington D.C. to visit Georgetown Law School. Scholars had their “first day of law school,” participating in lectures, workshops, and classes taught by Georgetown law professors.
College Readiness Scholars Institute (CRSI)
Each summer, LYTE high school students take part in the College Readiness Scholars Institute (CRSI) at the University of Delaware. Students stay in campus dorms, attend admissions sessions, and get a firsthand look at college life while building the confidence and skills needed to succeed in college.
